Black and Brown Blues

Song of the day:

"Black and Brown Blues"
Silver Jews
The Natural Bridge

"When I go downtown/I always wear a corduroy suit/Cuz it's made of 100 gutters/That the rain can wash right through"

Why?
I'm wearing a corduroy suit today. No, it's not actually a suit, but both the pants and jacket are corduroy, OK? (Perhaps your mom purchased something similar for you circa 1979?) And, this being Portland in November, you know it's rainin'.

that really is some great writing. i really think dave berman is the best writer ever. better than dylan? what has he done for me lately? better than leonard cohen? a resounding YES!! i encourage anyone uninitiated to the mans work to buy all the jews albums and his poetry book "actual air". heartbreakingly funny stuff. or funnily heartbreaking. funnily is a funny word. i probably spelled it wrong.
